Yes, you must be getting what just began in Lakeland may be thirty minutes ago --- a steady, slow strengthening. Can still go outside without a problem, but wouldn't want to take out the windsurfer right now.

We are over here in Tampa from melbourne....were in Ybor City around 5 PM when that first band came through...almost knocked us down......one of those globes from the top of a lampost flew off and down the street...the palm trees were literaly bent in half.....then the lights went out on that block...only lastest a few minutes but quite scary!

It's amazing how strong 75 mph winds are. I remember being on Bermuda with Hurricane Felix...in the early morning during the most intense part of the storm with winds probably around 75-80 mph I literally could not open the doors to get outside because of the wind pressure. Hell, during day before with probably 30-40 mph winds coconuts were blowing around...it was very dangerous.

You'll get a lot of localized damage from minimal hurricane winds alone. Maybe it won't make it on the national news, but it'll be there.

Strange wind here. Its noisy and the trees are bending and swaying but I can't feel it on the ground.

Broadband keeps going off and on.
White caps have been in the intercoastal all morning. And the water looks as though it's bumping into itself. It's kind-of swirling, and going left and going right.
I've been watching the big boat that's anchored off of a seawall across the bay. Looks like it's got two lines out. So this should be interesting to see if it holds.
Water is down and not coming over the sea wall here. But, it usually doesn't at our house, even in the no name storm.
Anyone know when high tide is?
