Bands entering jacksonville. Frances finally pays her visit

#1 Postby FlSteel » Sun Sep 05, 2004 6:40 am

Winds and rain now into Jacksonville. Just had a band go through my place in southern Jax. Power is flickering on and off, and the rain is coming down in sheets. Some high gusts and small branches are littering the yard from the oaks. The pine trees in the neighborhood are dancing, swaying back and forth. Hopefully this is what it will be like for the duration. We have had several tornadoes spotted this morning on doppler radar south of here in St. Johns county and Clay county. Hope everyone keeps safe and keep indoors. My prayer goes out to all those people still in this across the state.

Tornado just went through the doctor's inlet section of Orange Park Fl. Went right by a friends house. I have no idea of any damage as of yet.

In south Jax we just had a brief roaring gust and a large oak from my neighbor's came down into my yard taking out my 8 foot fence and deck on the river. And it was relatively calm when this happened! The ground is just too saturated to hold the trees.

This morning one of our elephant ear plants was uprooted and the wind knocked over this refrigerator our landlord had outside.

Light rain and gusty winds right now.

at 11 am the winds seem to be picking up again in mandarin and the branches in the large oaks in my neighborhood are dancing again. Hopefully one of these trees will not come down. As far as rain totals we are near 2" here at my house in mandarin.
