Anyone with any further details on this?
I know Hurricane Flora in 1963 was one such low latitude hurricane as it passed through Trinidad/Tobago ( 10N 11N) ... but I don't think there has been another one at such a low latitude approaching the islands in many years.
Of course..I also know Hurricane Allen in 1980 but that was at slightly higher latitude (12N 13N).
But below 10N! WOW! this season continues to amaze.

Tropicana, seeing the new change for the future movement of Hurricane Iván, and I notice it will hit the Eastern Provinces of Cuba. If Iván gets there as a major hurricane, it will be the first time since Hurricane Flora that those lands are hit by a major storm. In 1966, Hurricane Inez hit the area as a Cat. 2 storm and Georges in 1998 as a Cat. 1.
