From the looks of things, I doub't it.

I accidently slept for 10 hours (so much for my two hour nap!) but from the looks of KTBW it would have to go almost directly W for strong potential

The southside is still south of Tampa, so WNW movement takes it right into NE Tampa

Look at the radar, it's moving more west again and is heading straight towards Tampa. There is no doubt that Tampa will get the core of the storm. I mean the outer edge of the core of the storm is already at the Hillsborough county line.

Well, in south Tampa, I can say its nothing more that a windy thunderstorm equiv... not much rain,

Looks like unless it stays on this straight west track, it will stay that way. Good luck north tampa.

Please do not let your guard down. You are on the west side of the storm right now where there has always been a small area of no rain. The core of the storm extends from nearly the Orlando area all the way to near Sarasota. The core of the storm is going to affect all parts of Tampa and is not very far away at all. Please don't get complacent and stay safe!

WeatherNLU...you being a meteorologist, where do you think Frances ends up, with her second landfall?

From an amateur's POV, I think she end's up near, maybe Pascagoula?

The other day I said between Biloxi and Pensacola, and while I think that may still be possible, Mobile to Destin might be more likely. If I had to pinpoint a location right now, I would say just to the east of Pensacola. However, I think there is STILL the possibilty of this storm going more west than forecast. I had WPB as my point of landfall from the beginning, and that can be verified on several websites. I've just had a west lean to my track versus the NHC track from the onset. We shall see.

One of the upsides of hurricanes, for those who feel best in storms. :D

I am in northwestern hillsborough county and we are having very heavy wind. Healthy 8 inch branch from oak tree came down and huge punk trees falling over accross the street. Power is intermittent.
