12z Nogaps--Ivan heading for S FL

#1 Postby Vortex » Sun Sep 05, 2004 2:19 pm

Please tell me it isnt so...Florida sure has made up for the decades of trainquility the past few weeks and I cannot imagine another hurricane in 6 days as the Nogaps suggest with a heading towards SE florida.

It won't happen. I think Florida is finally going to get a break due his
fast forward speed, unlike Frances. IMO

Please tell everyone in Florida that this can't be happening. Let it hit S. America or Mexico for God's sake but not Florida again!

Based on nothing but "psychic" ability alone, I think this could be a Central American storm.

Note! Someone showed a chart of water tempurature a couple of days ago which indicated the Caribbean was only warm enough to support a Cat three storm while trying to show why Frances could still increase in strength off the Florida coast so there is "some" reason to hope for a less destructive storm.

I like storms too, and not much scares me; however, If this becomes a storm like Andrew in strength believe me you will not want to be in it.

Nope. You can see it hinting at lifting already.

Most often it is good news if early models take it to you because it always changes before it gets to you. Frances' intensity is a good example...

The 12Z GEM takes it to Eastern Florida as well. Remember, Frances has moved slowly over these very warm waters and if Ivan goes there, the water will be much cooler still. The map above probably hasn't been updated to reflect this.
