And what bad luck for the Bahamas, they had to deal with a stronger cane for as much time or longer than Florida. They definitely don't need a Russian visitor.

If Ivan goes to FLorida higher than a cat 2,it will decimate the state given the fact that they have already been impacted by Charley and Frances

I think we've entered the twilight zone.

Another waiting game, my friends!! Let's see how the next few days play out. We'll obviously have a much better idea what's in store for our poor state by Thursday. Perhaps the climatological powers that be just don't want any of the big three Florida college football schools to play any games this season. Just trying to inject a little humor into a nightmarish scenario.

While another hit on FL would be devastating, the waters east of there are now significantly cooler after Frances has churned them up. If Frances goes through the Keys or further south and ends up in the Gulf - we will be in for a wild ride. Those waters couldn't be any warmer right now. We're into the part of the season where there really isn't too much shear in the Gulf yet either, probably climatologically lower than at any point during the season.

All I can say is OMG

There is no doubt this is the twilight zone if Florida gets hit by a third major hurricane. IF. Still not sold on that idea at all yet.

OMG... :(

If we have to have another hurricane landfall this year, I don't want to have my maps out showing Florida. No offense to anyone else... :(

MBryant - we actually really haven't been affected yet this year. We've had close calls, but haven't been terribly affected. Now, the rest of the state is a different story....

I would want to look at the islands first, this could be devastating for them. They have not been truly hit in a while. I would say Allen without looking it up. All your points are valid, I am just thinking about the nasty potential that this storms brings to the table.

I don't think too many people living here would characterize what happened in Miami and the Keys as a heavy impact. I've driven from South Beach to Coral Gables to Cutler Ridge and seen very little to raise an eyebrow at. For the most part, just a lot of fallen palm fronds, twigs, and leaves. Fallen tree here and there, but nothing out of the ordinary or unexpected. Some large ficus trees did their usual tip-over.

About the biggest damage I heard of was this apartment building in Kendall - just a horribly constructed roof getting obliterated. I can't imagine how poor the construction in that roof must have been.
