what did floridians do to deserve this?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

People wanting to live *near or on the beach* not checking out history of the land they choose as home. Hurricanes have hit Florida for a long time and been damaging, but not as damaging when people built on land meant to be nature's drainage areas, or sand spits, and builders don't care after the building is sold. Read John McDonald's book Condiminium...fiction but based on what the reality is. Depressing but true and has been going on a long long time.

I think Florida does the the best job in -removed- ..... at least for the year 2004.....

Here are my top 10 -removed- states this year's hurricane season...

1. Florida (heck they like to be first in everything, doesn't matter what it is, and usually they are) well there head and shoulders above everyone else this season..... you will see less -removed- from them if Ivan starts coming their way...I think they've gotten all the storm they want this year.. and I don't blame them from not wanting any more...
2. North Carolina (made a great effort to get Frances but came up well short, interesting to see the effort they will make if Ivan picks up some latitude down the road... I wonder if they had anything to do with the models shifting to the north tonight on Ivan....hmmm)
3. Texas (time is running out on their season, they need to pick up the pace on their -removed- if they want to see any serious action this year)
4. Louisiana (good thing they're not in competion with Southern Cal on this) and New Orleans is so overdue for a storm... hmmmm Ivan??? Their -removed- will go in fever mode if it makes it into the GOM
5. South Carolina
6. Alabama (Still holding out for Frances...)
7. Mississippi (finally something we're not last in)
8. Georgia
9. Virginia
10. All the states above Virginia.....

JUST KIDDING..... :)

I was going to make a light-hearted crack about the 2000 Elections, but the fact of the matter is Florida residents didn't do anything to deserve this. You simply live in Hurricane Alley, an area prone to hurricanes.

People who live in Tornado Alley run the risk of getting hit by tornadoes.
People who live in California run the risk of earthquakes.
People who live in Washington and Oregon run the risk of volcanoes.

This is life on Planet Earth.
