Tampa Bay, Downtown Tampa and area flooding

#1 Postby Terry » Mon Sep 06, 2004 6:27 am

High tide at St Pete pier 6:25 a.m. Bay flooding with SW flow and rain and tides still coming in.

Water in downtown streets per Channel 8 - WFLA pictures.

Would guess that any areas right around the bay are getting flooding. That includes very flood prone Anna Maria Island.

I hope everyone stays off the roads today in Tampa. So far in the northwestern section where we live, we are doing okay as far as flooding. I thought when the sun came up it would be very bad.

If the people on the teevee are right, the flooding will ease off pretty soon. I think I can take another three inches before I am flooded.

I went to check on a friend on Bayshore and stayed a sec to take pics... stunning for only 4 feet of surge.

mf_dolphin I just want to say you have a wonderful site here and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for maintaining it. It is far and away the best source of info I have found and it made it easier to deal with my family getting hit in WPB and then me getting whacked here.

At my home in South Lakeland we've had over 11 inches since yesterday a.m. I emptied five inches out of the guage yesterday eve and another six inches just now - which tops the rainguage out. Lots of rain was sideways for long periods. Definitely a rain event and wind event here.

Sorry guys, didn't realize you needed to be members of EF to view pics.

Please try this link instead:

EDIT: TECO is yet to even look at our neighborhood, and we have been without power for two days. ATM we are running our neighbor's fridge on each side, 2 fridges here, 2 computers, and 2 tvs. Generators are amazing! I'm reading 110v on my APC Battery backup which is on a very long extension cord, so things seem well (and we are going to drop a fridge soon).
