*NWS Melbourne needs any and all reports of severe weather!*
...or flooding or anything that you might consider important!
This is Tony from the NWS Office in Melbourne. Comms down along the treasure coast (Vero Beach to Jupiter) are hammered. Reports of damage, flooding, etc, etc. are very slow to come in, even from amateur radio operators
If anyone who hears of damage reports via the news, friends or whatever, could post them in this thread so I could check back on it from time to time, we here at the office would be very grateful.
If in doubt, post it anyway!
Thanks in advance,
Tony Cristaldi

Tony,
This is my son's account, I am the SKYWARN person for Volusia County. I am currently running a net on 146.865 and may be able to get you direct on 147.360. No damage to report yet but all shelters are activated and manned by ham operators, many skywarn trained. I'll ask them to relay any damage reports to me. Here is my call and contact info:

Can give you info here from the EOC. I am the Stuart Police rep. Have a list of damage so far. Nothing major. So far most we have minor roof damage. Metal free standing outdoor buildings are down including Stuart City Garage Complex, and detailing areas of Stuart Jeep and Stuart Volkswagon. Some facade failures. Naturally tons of trees down and most traffic signals. Will do a better assessment during the calm of eye including check of our mobil home park.

Thanks for this report. Would have gotten to it earlier, but I was on a 5-hour break getting some sleep. Lucky me - i get to work the dark side...11P to 7A.
Thanks again.

Tony - Good to hear from you!
It's Alan from Indian River Memorial in Vero Beach. I've got no weather to report but we are seeking information on rainfall totals, peak winds, storm surge - any information we can access on Francis to help us better prepare as a hospital for the next threat.
Can you steer me in the right direction.

I was wondering when/if I might hear from ya. Good to see your name on this end too. Listen, just watch our web site and I'm sure we'll have some data going up in a couple of days. Also look for a text product out our office called the PREMININARY POST CYCLONE REPORT FOR HURRICANE FRANCES...just like this one for Hurricane Charley...
http://www.srh.noaa.gov/mlb/charley/PSHMLB.txt
Call the office tonight (I work 3P-11P) if you have any ???. E-mail me at tony.cristaldi@noaa.gov if you need our tel #.
Thanks,
Tony

Tony,
I was wondering if there is anyway people on this board can help with your assessment? For example, in my case I have many pictures from during and after the storm of damage to the local area I am willing to share. Not trying to beat on the NWS, your guys did an awesome job of keeping everyone updated on the storm, but the damage and conditions during the storm did not seem consistent with some of the advisories that went out warning of 80mph gust etc. In fact, I am willing to bet in Deltona we saw several gusts to near or over 100mph. If you know any way we can assist and aid in this assesment and for the validity of future forecasts, please let us know!
