Hi therock, Gulfbreezer was in the chat room yesterday..... Im in Pensacola not too far from where she lives. We had a breezy day...but no rain to mention. All is well in the far western panhandle of Florida :)

Ok good deal. I just wondered cause I hadn't seen her on AIM and then remembered that the panhandle took a severe hit.

I'm just north of Panama City and the worst we had was around 40mph winds. We hardly had 2" of rain.

It wasn't...

it wasn't too severe here in the panhandle... the center made landfall 5 miles from here, but we only got 30 mph winds and moderate rain fall for a couple hours... it was actually windier today than yesterday!

Well as far as I knew the eastern parts took a pretty big strike...most of the worst is usually east of the center...thanks everyone...

Navarre, Florida here....nothing much from Frances, but I'll tell you what I'm sitting on pins and needles here concerning Ivan the Terrible. My family and I moved here from Italy after I retired from the Navy. I'm a North Alabama native...and I'll have to think hard about moving home to "Sweet Home" if this is a climate change. The Panhandle is the only economically viable area of Florida left, if Ivan comes up here the state will have to post a "Closed for Repairs" sign for the next year.

Once you got west of about Panama City Beach, the effects of Frannie were negligable. Some palm fronds down, maybe a wee tree branch or two down as well. We got moderate sprinkles, some wind gusts from the north (which disappointed the surfers mightily since they didn't get their usual two days of GOM tropical systems big waves because of wind direction) and some more light sprinkles.

I agree Ivan's looking scary. Am hoping it will stay low and hit the part of Texas no one lives, but only one model gives it a shot for that happening.
