Liked Forecaster Avila's Comments In 5 PM Discussion

"high octane gas for hurricanes" - talking about how the western Caribbean will be prime for further Ivan development with very warm SST's & a favorable upper-level environment.

Interesting that the NOGAPS, UKMET & GFS are all presently in fairly good agreement that Ivan will be picked up by the deepening trough - if I'm not mistaken, these models performed pretty well with Frances. These are more shorter range models & may not play out with so much of a northerly turn in the next few days. Well have to see. What's the consensus here? Not about the ultimate forecast track yet but about the strength, depth & timing of this trough?
