Geraldo Rivera kicked out from embedded press by US military
Moderator: S2k Moderators
Well now that makes more sense. I have to admit when I saw him drawing in the sand I thought "Oh no." And the military had every right to boot him from reporting. I feel that we should have those embedded reporters. Why? because they can actually tell us the truth as to what is really going on with our troops. They are, afterall, under fire too.

BG Brooks knows what he can and can't say in his briefings. There are critical units whose positions cannot be breached in any way. 101st airborne being one of them at this time. Also BG brooks is not identifying any troop movements that are not already known to the Iraqi forces. His briefings are one of the few things that I watch on a regular basis. He has the right mentality for briefing the public.
As for Geraldo, I have never cared for his methods. i agree with some of the other posts about his arrogance and his lime light hunting. That said, I do have to give him credit for allowing the troops to say hey to their loved ones. but I have to wonder if that was his decision, or the home office's. i can't imagine him giving up air time. Having been provided some very insightful researched information about Geraldo's past actions, and present "mistake" (that being that the 101 was fired upon shortly after Geraldo's map drawing in the sand, and that this was not his FIRST breach, but his 2nd - in regards to giving out "clues" as to position), I humbly retract my position on Geraldo.

Whew! Glad you just said that j !!
When I read in your post....."It was only a drawing in the sand".....it made me think of every nations' past.....when drawing in the sand was the only form of communication! What he did absolutely put our troops in danger; removing him has surely made ALL of the remaining journalists much more cautious.
I'm so impressed with BG Brooks! His answers and information are precise and to the point.........p
