Keys being evacuated now?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

At this time, don't you agree a *voluntary* evac is in order? Given it takes a long time (even on a good day) for non-locals to actually make the trip, the locals will need a little time to board up. By Saturday, you could expect *mandetory* evac IF the forecast verifies. Models are clustering in support...could change but if you doubt the power of a Cat-V, look at this URL. It accurately depicts my memories of Camille.

Richard, thank you for posting that link. It's sobering. I've passed it on to some of my complacent friends.
I was an NCO, Technical Instructor at KAFB. I'm 62 now and *STILL* cannot forget Camille. I hope Ivan doesn't compete for memories. I live in Orlando and we've already had 2 strikes. The coast is where Frances did most of it's damage, Central Florida (after the landfall point which was mangled) suffered most from Charley, but all the damage I've seen is 'baby-poo' compared to a Cat-V storm. Let's hope none of us have to live through one.

The order went out at lunchtime. Mandatory for tourists, mobile home residents, etc. Voluntary for other residents, but it looks like they're asking for a total evacuation.
