Didn't take ya long to nail me for that post.
Hey, nothin' personal. Been lurking for a while and I think this is a great site!
I agree there is alot of great info shared, but there are also some threads that deserve a little "tongue in cheek" remark from time to time.
Keep up the good work!

Looks to me like one can already see the outline of the new eyewall forming.

A conch is a long-time keys resident. The tend to be very reluctant to evacuate, since they've seen so many storms, and so many misses.
A conch literally is a type of sea creature that creates a hard shell around it's body. It's sort of like a "sea snail". Conch shells can be very pretty, and sometimes get quite large.

Being new, and having no training/education in this area, what constitutes a hurricane "bombing out"??? Sometimes the useage here suggests it occurs when the storm reaches some sort of maximum strength. Other times, the useage suggests it occurs when the storm is dying out. Thanks in advance for your reply. This is a great site.

You'll be in the worst part of the storm and this is larger than Charley. Some of the models take it back out over the Atlantic as far south as the Vero Beach area. That would probably give you some hurricane force gusts.

Subtropical ridge -- dry air into Ivan?
The oozing of the subtropical ridge continues S/SW towards Jamacia.
As this loop progresses, you can see that dry air continuing to clear out
moisture from the North, down across central/Eastern Cuba. This may also be happening further East, but the outflow from Ivan is too dense to tell. Comments??
