Ive noticed English folks are a bit different than us Americans. I wish them the best of luck. The eye still might miss just alittle bit.

A fellow named Cobb with NHC on the radio said in their intermediate advisory they'd upgrade the winds to 150 mph.

it dropped...and picked right back up.

these people are not taking this storm seriously at all!! the last person they had on is staying in his home next to a canal.

This unfolding is just breaking my heart. Some woman called in and said that she and her sister could not get their 80 year old mother to leave their wooden second story home and go to a shelter. She called to see if the radio announcer could convince her. You could just hear the desperation in the daughter's voice.

The government of Jamaica issued a state of emergency earlier today - it is the Leader of the Opposition party who is foolishly objecting. The radio station is doing a great job of keeping people informed of the dangerous situation.

Zinc roofs are flying north of Kingston, trees and light poles down. Very hard rains.
The shelters are only half full, and they are trying to convince people live on the radio to leave their houses for the shelters.

Some woman said people are skeptical because of past warnings of hurricanes that have missed the island. They do not have mandatory evacuations. People are refusing to evacuate.
