Jacob in St. Ann: Dropped
Levine in Gordontown: Dry inside. Lots of rain and wind. Not all that heavy. Not fretting much. Dublin Castle three houses roofs off completely.

I love the way they say "Good Night" as a greeting instead of a departure. I didn't know they did that.

it is very Caribbean on most islands to say Good Night as a greeting rather than a farewell

Earlier this afternoon they had many commercials for Security Guards. They know that they are needed. A minority of the people in the country take advantage of the situation -- sounds like the looters in LA or those after winning a football game...

Heh, a radio ad for female condoms.

Anyway, my boyfriend and I were talking earlier today about how fragile the infrastructure is in Jamaica under normal circumstances, and how easily it would be disrupted by a chaotic event such as this. It should be no surprise about the looters or violence. This is a country with a lot of crime and violence even under the best environments. Sad, but true.

I really hope to donate some money toward Jamaica. Even though I'm in the west Florida sights of this beast, I really feel that these people deserve a hand up. I don't know if the red cross goes there, but I'd love to find out.

canegrl04 -- exactly -- i've listened all day and quite frankly the population just ignored all of the warnings -- I fear a great number of deaths from being way too laid back. We will find out in the morning.
