Weak Steering Currents

#1 Postby Downdraft » Sat Sep 11, 2004 7:22 am

I don't really think much of the idea that a possible CAT 5 hurricane will be in the eastern Gulf very near Florida in weak steering currents. If this thing turns and slows down today everyone on Florida's west coast from Pennsacola to Naples should be packing the churches tomorrow. Let's remember Frances was 70 miles off the coast and they still couldn't predict accurate landfall. As a pennisular Floridian I like the westward trends but as a human being I can't help but think of how many lives are going to be changed forever this time next week.

this is my fear also, as I am not sure what they think, as the storm was supposed to go over Jamaica and it moved west, does the help us here in eastern Flordia? Now it slowing down, yes they predicted the slow down, but then they also say that they are not sure what it will do after Cuba..

I was looking at the steering currents as well.

I'm not sure what to make of it! I don't see anything ready and willing to help pull Ivan to the north, but then again, this is one small piece of the puzzle of what's really happening synoptically.
