Trough digging in some more???

From the latest WV loop, check out some dry air infiltrating the western panhandle. This could be the trough digging in a little deeper. The ULL in the Atlantic continues its westward motion. Ivan is moving a little slower. Who will catch up to who?

If the WV shows the high digging south and west, and being pinched so to speak, and the ULL near the Bahamas, will this make the storm slow down and then go north on the pull of the ULL?? or does it go wnw and then NW?

windfall, i doubt it. that trough is and has been very stationary and very negated. That is more or less a nosing of high pressure from the tennessee valley.

The dry/reddish feature (in wv imagery) over the western Gulf is a RIDGE, not a trough. Also, notice the upper low in the Atlantic no longer has a southern component to it's motion. It's due west, and slower than yesterday.

The feature (clockwise rotation) in the western Gulf of Mexico is a ridge. However, the dry air
running against the moist air is the trough... that is what has always been explained to us.
