If Frances is still involved it would make landfall right around Valentine's day.

It looks like it might hit the northern Gulf Coast at low tide. That could be very important for some folks.

Derek...

I'm right by New Orleans, work in the city. i am getting c oncerned here abou the fact that this is not turning north yet, and well, should I be overly concerned here?

The panhandle is not far from bama, which is not too far from this direction.

The models keep shifting west, then west. Anyway, what do you think are the honest chances of this thing heading in my direction?

you have been very consistent so far

I agree. I remember your earliest forecast for Ivan is very similar to the one that NHC is showing right now. Thanks for all the hard work, Derek, and I look forward to seeing your future work.

This is making good sense to me, although it's a bit too close to home. I agree with the potential westward shift as well if Ivan doesn't start turning more towards the north by the end of the day.

I am editing to note that today in Pensacola's newspaper (just to my south) stated that the local Home Depot is completely out of generators already.

Correct.

The 914 is Extrap but clearly he's regained Cat-5 strength.
