Does anyone think he has escaped the country? I've thought about that today, and was wondering if we had iraq sealed up enough so that couldn't happen. Even before the first bomb dropped, did we have him caged in?

Just the thought of it puts a knot in my stomach.

I think he (and most likely his WMDs) is in Syria now with his fellow Ba'athist Asad and has been since we tried for him on March 19th.

How do you suppose he got out? I swear this has really been bugging me today for some reason.

[size=18]Tapes Say Goodbye Saddam/But Dead or Fled????[/size

#12 Postby Steve H. » Thu Apr 03, 2003 8:37 pm

Unless he wants to pull a "risen from the dead" charade and blast us with chemicals, he either high-tailed it early or was killed in the first strike. If he left town (which I doubt) he could have very well gone to Syria OR IRAN. Iran could be a wildcard here, and I consider them a danger to our troops and our country. UPI also reported that Iran may want to take back a piece of Iraq. If Saddam blew town, what general in his right mind wouldn't follow suit :?: Why should they stay and die while they let him run off to security and comfort :?: Then again, who the hell knows, he could be in Key West with Osama :o The deal is that we are not going to leave Iraq...ever. We will always have a presence there, and will probably establish a couple of bases there. We can't just set up a democratic government and leave. Look what happened in Iran with the Shau. Our presence there will also have to eliminate threats to the new regime. This will not go over well with the neighboring countries. Will we need to systematically eliminate threats in other countries in the region?? If they threaten us we may need to. That's why the French and Germans and Russians object so vehemently against us being there. This is a rea time game of RISK!
