I live in NE Orlando, and my plywood is staying up until this beast is somewhere north of NJ and there are no signs of any storms blowing off of Africa. Basically, the plywood may stay up until November 1st with the luck we've had here in central Florida! :P

If I were in Tampa, I wouldn't pop the cork on the champagne just yet, although every 6 hours thinks have looked better and better for you guys. Heck, I'm pulling for Tampa to get nary a scratch cause I don't even want rain or winds from another storm!

I am going to be skeptical till this storm hits land.

Learning from Charley, preliminary forecasts said port charolette. Then a day or two elapsed. Then a jog, the west, Tampa. Everybody screamed Tampa Tampa Tampa. The news rarely mentioned the fact that it was parallel to the coast and slight deviations would drastically change landfall. Then it came. Suddenly, shocking! NOT Tampa. Storm bumped a hint east and it smacked port charolette/punta gorda, where they had orginally forecast it.

Point of the story? Ivan is still coming relatively parallel, Ivan is still days away, and this season GOM storms have been trending east of their projected path.

I don't want a hurricane by no means. I just want to know whats coming. Ivan has destroyed every place he has visited. My mets in the area don't impress me.

The breeze at the moment. Is this something just to the west of us that's causing it? Or is it related to Ivan?
It did this a couple of days before Frances came onshore as well.

I am much more relaxed compared to yesterday. That said, I'm still keeping my guard up til this is well North of us.
