Best TWC OCM during hurricane coverage

#1 Postby Guest » Sat Sep 11, 2004 11:24 pm

I would have to say Stephanie Abrams did a great job during frances. Also I will admit Stephanie looked kinda hot getting blown around too! Cantore does good but scares the storms off

The storms are afraid of Jim.

Is Abrams the one that was in New Smyrna Beach.

Is it pronounced fluidly, just Smerna.

Or is it pronounced like Samerna.

'Been going there since birth, having been born in Melbourne and raised in Orlando. It is pronounced: "Suh-Merna."

I like Smerna better...

But since I'll be living in Daytona for most of the next 4-5 years, I guess I should pronounce it correctly 8-)

Stephanie Abrams needs to see how long it takes for a two piece bikini to be ripped off in hurricane force winds!

Actually guys, I just saw a report from Stephanie standing on a beautifully sunny beach on the west coast of Florida, where they are anticipating Hurricane Ivan to possibly come ashore. You kow those people that work at TWC have all those nice, attractive little Weather Channel coats and hats blazened with the Weather Channel logo, I think the executive folks at TWC should very seriously consider creating a little "Weather Channel Bikini" for Stephanie to wear when she does those segments from the beaches of Florida! Wow! Talk about a sudden rise in ratings!
Sorry Stef, we really do appreciate your brains as well as your looks, but when you've got them both in the same package like you do (and that's pretty rare), why not use it to your advantage?
Makes perfect sense to me....

I wish they had Stephanie in a t-shirt during those hurricanes!

I met Jim Cantore about 18 years ago when TWC was just getting started. He had a second job leasing apartments. I can't watch him without remembering being shown around the aprtment complex. I imagine TWC pays well enough now that he doesn't have to moonlight!

Yeah, when I'm faced with a major 'cane coming towards my home, I sure hope they give me a gorgeous weather babe to watch while I'm safely evacuated north in Arlington. It will make it all that more easier to cope with the debris flying around in Galveston if I can see a wet t-shirt and then watch Abrams' blood saturating it after she gets pierced by a shard of glass.

There's a time and a place for bikinis and wet t-shirts -- 99% of the time they're out there in Galveston. Check the webcams. During a hurricane?? Get real. Do you have torture fetishes or something?

LOL - was waiting for a brave female member to respond here.....should have known it would be you Shawn...he he

S. Abrams - ugh, can't stand her! I used to think Jim Cantore got excited about storms, any he was sent to, but he's calm compared to SA! The last on air segment I saw her do was in between 2 tall buildings in FL during Frances, demonstrating how difficult it was to stand b/c of cross winds...or however it's technically described....all I could think was she was a crazy girl trying to show people how brave she was barely holding onto her raincoat hood, and mike, and screaming into the mike, I might add. Enunciating every single syllable.

Please give me Cantore anyday over SA!

I'm probably the lone member here that just cannot stand her and when in studio Mets say "and now we go to Stephanie Abrams for her report" I quickly change channels. If I stayed with her report, I think I'd be gagging, it feels so over-dramatic.

No, I don't care for her either.

She had some of her crew holding her down during some of her live reports. I guess she was so light so was going to fly away.

My biggest dislike though was of Mike Bettes... ugh!

I can't say that I absolutely dislike any of them, but, Cantore is
more fun to watch!

Personally, I don't dislike any of them all of that much. Although they can definatly get to excited at times, but come on, if you were in the middle of a hurricane you wouldn't be at least a little bit excited. As long as you knew you were safe anyway. I know I would be, I want to be able to experience a hurricane once in my life at least. Maybe not one like Ivan, but a hurricane.

Thanks fro getting this back on topic!

Anyway, I LOVE Jim Cantore and a close second, especially for comic relief is Mike Seidel. He does a great job reporting, but the last two seasons you can't help to tune in to see what's going to happen to him next.

I don't like Hillary Andrews - I feel like I just want to drag the words out of her when she speaks. I find I focus on how she's speaking than what she's really saying. Sometimes shes really doesn't make any sense.
