Tampa Bay Port???

#1 Postby zimmerm » Sun Sep 12, 2004 10:14 am

Hi All-
This is my 2nd post- very new on this board. I have a question, I am currently on a cruise that was scheduled to return to Tampa in the morning; however, the Captain has told us that Tampa Port is closed, and we are heading now towards Miami. Has anyone heard about the port closing?

Not sure about Tampa port, but they could bring the ship up to Port Canaveral which reopened yesterday. All except the very largest ships (RCI Voyager class) are getting in without problems since they've dredged the sandbar out of the channel.

At least you all would only be a couple hours away from Tampa.

Tampa bay is prone to storm surge so this makes sense, Miami would be safer.
