URGENT NEWS.... NK explosion... could be NB...

(URGENT) NK explosion-mushroom cloud
A reliable source in Seoul's diplomatic community says Sunday a mushroom cloud with a radius of 3.5 to 4 kilometers was spotted in Kimhyongjik County in North Korea's northernmost inland province of Yanggang on Sept. 9.
(the above is from... http://english.yna.co.kr/Engnews/200409 ... 049E7.html)
Citing an unidentified source in Beijing, Yonhap said the explosion happened on Thursday in Yanggang province near the border with China. The damage and crater left by the explosion in Kim Hyong Jik county was big enough to be noticed by a satellite, the source said.
IT IS STILL TOO EARLY TO TELL WHAT IT EXACTLY WAS....

Some info on NK blast
I work in military inteligence, this is new info to the general public but the DOD and certain agencies knew about it within minutes of the event on the 9th of September. It will take them some time to determine what it actually was. You can be certain that if it was nuke testing though that there will be serious consequences to come in the coming weeks. I am sure I will have a busy week starting monday. There is no reason to be alarmed though. This is going to have a big big affect on the situation in the mideast though. Iran has some things that are shady going on as well.

If It WAS
a nuke, some of those serious consequences could come to NK from sources they are not expecting since the PRC and the Russians would be most displeased at the prospect of fallout from an above ground test coming their way.

I don't want to live in North Korea, or Iran, or anywhere outside the U.S. I anticipated that red herring. No other red herrings please. It is my duty as a U.S. citizen to point out that the representatives of the U.S. citizenry appear to have constructed a foreign policy that strongly encourages all nations to acquire nuclear weapons. Its a foreign policy that couldn't be more stupid really. If this wasn't a North Korea test, then anticipate one. If it was a nuke test, get used to it.

Hiya -- if you do indeed work in MI, I'm surprised that you posted the above. Of course, obviously the U.S. knows within minutes about any large explosion through multiple sources and has ways of determining the origin of an explosion (and certainly has by now) -- but I doubt someone working in MI would be allowed to discuss such things on a public online internet forum. Hopefully, you don't actually work in MI, as some of the stuff you posted above is only marginally open source.

I'd say we heavily discourage nations for aquiring nuclear weapons. How much we discourage it depends on how imporant the country is to us. North Korea, if it has detonated a weapon, will probably be very harshly dealt with, either by China or the U.S. (My bet would be on China.)
