Here is the balance of the deaths by the countries and islands Ivan has affected.THe information about what happened in the Cayman islands so far is not available.

Barbados=1
Grenada=34
Trinidad and Tobago=1
Venezuela=5
Dominican Republic=4
Haiti=2
Jamaica=20

As sad as those numbers are, i'm sure the totals would have had to be multiplied by a big factor if Ivan had hit Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cuba with direct hits :(

Wow, I'm surprised Jamaica had those high numbers. In contrast, I'm surprised Grenada had those low numbers if we take into the account their destruction.

Thank God it wasn't much more...

Cancun apparently began disaster prep in earnest around 4AM with officals waking residents and urging them to evacuate to higher ground. Most housing is of light construction. Cancun is very low lying area.
