Does anyone see Ivan hitting FL?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Pensacola is a strong possibility.

Well I've resigned myself to watching Lat 24, Long 87 that appears to be where the models begin to differ on projected paths.

East of this...FL is likely to be impacted
West of this...western GOM..aka New Orleans
On Target...central GOM..Mobile

I see Ivan hitting FL... mainly in the Panhandle, but close to Alabama.

The NHC track appears to have been pushed more east as of the 11am advisory: http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/tr ... _5day.html Maybe I'm wrong though, just going on memory.

Jennifer, yes, that's more east. So often 'Canes do take a turn for the east in the N. GOM and this one is likely to do that, too, I think.

Yes... about 25-30 miles east. I'm actually a little surprised.

Agreed - it's a little east. I don't know if that's good or bad for me. It's extremely close either way. This site has been such a blessing in a terrible time of worry.

Yes Swampdog, and I'm assuming it's due to the NW movement Ivan is now making. The longer it went WNW the further west they assumed landfall would be.

It was supposed to turn NW two days ago. The forecast was for it to hit the Panhandle and has been for awhile now.

It's a huge system. Even if it follows the NHC track, all the way over to the Big Bend of Florida could recieve hurricane force winds.

Don't count anything out yet !

Ivan has not done anything the models predicted. It now seems like he wants to start his North movement (sooner than predicted and not a wide swing) If that front comes down deep into the gulf as predicted by Wednesday and if Ivan is still slow.....anything can happen.

Of course it will hit Florida......without a doubt in my mind.
Now "where" in Florida is another story yet to be written;
