Local met

#1 Postby Rainband » Mon Sep 13, 2004 4:19 pm

Dennis phillips said the models were not run with the nnw motion and that he expects the track to be shifted east. He said he is not saying this is going to make a hard right but may shift closer to the west coast. He said it could be a temporary thing but he expects the track to shift right by 11pm. Interesting to note that the pressure here went from 29.95 to 29.91 and falling in the past 2 hours. Like I said before NO ONE here wants anything to do with Ivan but this is just proof of why some of us are still concerned. I hope you understand now and I really hope NO one on this site wants this cane if you do. Like I said before that is out of my realm of thinking. God speed to anyone who has to deal with this Tragedy, you will be in my Thoughts and Prayers.

He is the one who raised the concerned for me and actually stated the scenrio that would have to happen. He said - "I'm not trying to hype it and it is low possibility but that it is a possibility for a shift right. We really need to watch. Everyone else this morning seemed less cautious.

Bay News 9 just gave the latest track. He emphasized it's not carved in stone (as they always say) and that there will be an extreme (I think that was his word) adjustment at 11. That struck me as odd. He gave no details. Maybe there is something to this thing shifting East. I'm under no conception that this will make landfall in my area, just wondering how close it will get and how it will affect us. Especially with tornadoes on the NE quad (from what I understand that's the norm).

Dennis tells it like it is. Time will tell what will happen. I only want people to realize thats why we are still watching. It amazes me that some people think some of us want Ivan to come this way. Maybe some people do but I am not one of them. I hope the record is clear on that now.

Dennis also said that such a shift to the right would bring tropical storm force winds into Tampa area Wednesday. TF winds, very large surf, big rain event, high tides can all mean trouble for the barrier islands and even downtown Tampa. Certainly not the same as a direct hit, but clearly a reason for all those along GOM coast areas to stay tuned and be prepared for whatever.

Wishing Ivan on no-one!

Heck no. This storm scares the living daylights out of me. If anybody really wants it they should read up what happened in Cayman. Bank buildings built to strict Hurricane code - unrecognizable. And if they still want if - they should get their head examined.

I hope Dennis Phillips is wrong :(

Still, he is my favorite local met. I definitely prefer him to the WFLA-VIPIR obsession. :p

Tom Terry is a little full of himself since he got lucky with Charley. He is a constant doom-and-gloomer. I believe he does it purely for ratings. And he was not completely correct about Frances.

Dennis is a Idiot. He also said he had to go look at the new info closer. He had not even read the 5pm discussion yet which if he had said that in 12 Hrs they expect it to go back to the NW movement.

ALSO to think about is this. The NHC has the track to the right of Guidence already and that is to take the shift into account.

I personally like channel 13 They are always ahead of any info.

Time will tell. If anything Dennis downplays things. I hope he is wrong but of and interesting note check out the pressure tendency today.

What an idiotic thing to say!!! I live in Central Florida and have been through two hurricanes in the last month. It has nothing to do with wishing the cane would come here, I have seen enough.

I'm sure I speak for the rest of the people you insulted here that it is ALL ABOUT THE NECESSARY PREPARATIONS.

I for one have ten sheets of plywood in my garage that I haven't put up, as of yet. I am HOPING that I don't need to. I am praying for the best.

Please don't treat us who are concerned about the preparations we might need to make as ignorant!

Good luck to you...
