Does anyone still see IVAN going NE

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

That would depend on what part of the panhandle you are talking about.

I currently am holding to my earlier prediction of a landfall somehere between Pensacola and Panama City, more likely the Destin area. After talking with others(like BarometerBob) and looking at the WV I think there is a good chance that Ivan will have a more NNE component to his approach as he nears landfall. Meanwhile I see nothing out of the ordinary in the current progs from NHC. I expect the NNW to NW(possibly later this am)track to continue until the incoming trough from the West gets close enough to affect Ivan as he nears the coast.

One thing to remember is that Ivan is Huge and his effects will be widespread, especially to the East and Northeast of the center.

It's all in timing. If that western trough beats Ivan to the coast, then it's a possibility, if Ivan beats the trough, then it'll probably be a Mobile landfall.

I think it'll head to a more North-western direction, see if Florida will ever get a break from all the Hurricanes.

Hopefully Jeanne will turn out into the Atlantic and be history.
