My gut feeling is that Ivan is not thru with his surprises and will yet do something unexpected. Worst thing I can think of--get close to the coast and then ride it west or east many miles as he did with Jamacia, Cayman's, and Cuba. Prayers for all at this point.

NHC has it right smack over Pascagoula as a 125 mph Cat 3 at 7am Thursday. Very very bad. I'm on that dreadful east side though. Thankfully, the winds won't be near that bad here, but I'm still expecting sustained winds in the 50-60 mph range with some gusts possibly to hurricane force. We're going to stay at one of my relative's house about 30 miles north of here. She has a basement.

Yesterday I had a feeling that Ivan would landfall about 50 miles east of Mobile, or in the Pensacola area. After having seen more discussion from weather professionals I'm tending more to the west now. I think some people are overestimating the NE trend for this storm.

So now I'm thinking landfall in the Gulfport-Biloxi area, but a hurricane is not a point.

I think if I was in NOLA I would evacuate. This storm is getting too close and intensity is too uncertain to take any chances. Tidal surge into Pontchartrain is very uncertain at this time, but the risk of levee breeching is uncomfortably high.

I'm not much of a weather person, but I'm gonna say west. Which really isn't good becuase I have family in Pascagoula and as of right now the eye is right on top of them! :crying:

West of Mobile, possibly smack dab on top of New Orleans. This storm is chock-full of surprises.

Brent, my home is sturdy now. Suffered major damage from georges. My house went through a major upgrade since then. We will see if it passes the test. :D I will not be here for the final grade though, trust me on that one. :wink: :lol:

I'm thinking landfall will be farther west....around the Bay St. Louis area. From watching the current movement and wv loops, I think Ivan will maintain his current track and not make the move NNE until after landfall.
(Just a non-professional guess LOL)

The mouth of the MISSISSIPPI river looks good to me.

remember I said last week landfall would be between NO LA. and GULFPORT MS. when everyone was set on the W coast of FLA.
