Leaving Pascagoula early afternoon, headed to above Meridian. Will have lap tap and cell phone hook up but not sure of tower reach up there. So take care everyone and pray my husband is safe while he stays here as he is a Deputy Sheriff and can't leave.

Good Luck and Best Wishes to All!

Our island is a wrecked landscape from Charley. From touring over the last few weeks I've noticed that brand-new houses recently constructed did very well as far as damage. I guess their roof nails grip the newer wood tighter. Also, they are probably built to Andrew code.

I suspect this hurricane will weaken on a constant downward curve. The main concern for homeowners should be trees falling on roofs and projectiles hitting windows. We have had nothing but headaches trying to get back to normal after Charley here and we were only minorly damaged.

If he weakens get ready to have water and all the hurricane preparation stuff ready. You'll probably be able to get back to your houses fairly quickly after they clear the roads. Those little items become very large when you have no power, sewer, or water. A chainsaw becomes a valuable item if you get a direct hit and have trees on your yard...
