It is difficult to feel "good" here in Tampa Bay a

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

It is difficult to feel "good" here in Tampa Bay a

As glad as I am that Ivan appears to be missing us, it is hard to feel any real satisfaction, knowing that friends and fellow "board members" in the Panhandle and points west are dealing with evacuation hassles and the uncertainty of what they will be returning to.

I left my workplace Friday thinking I would never see it again, and I left my home Sunday at 3:00am thinking I might never see it again.

Sorry for the people in Ivan's path, but it feels good to know both places will be here in a week. We have had enough here in TB.

Well said Terry. The bad thing about a GOM storm is that some of our friends are always in the cone and some will invariably be at the point of landfall. :-( What we try and do here is to make sure that the best available information is here for those that need it. Prayers going out from here for all those in the path of Ivan. Please listen to your local authorities and get to a safe place quickly!

It is hard to believe that a mere 5 days ago we were in the cone. So scary that it could be happening here and wishing it didn't have to be anywhere-such mixed feelings and really worried about everyone on the N Gulf Coast.

I have gone from being concerned about my own home and immediate family, to being concerned for my mother, and other extended family and friends, as well as those of you on the board here.

As much as I don't want this storm, I don't want anyone else to have to deal with it either. I think I'd rather deal with it, than wish it on others, at least at this moment, when my house looks like it will be safe and with electricity.

Stay safe everyone!

After going thru Charley, it almost bring tears to my eyes reading your posts as I know exactly what all of you are going thru up the Gulf coast.

Just remember... whoever gets Ivan will find life VERY hard the first couple of days. I was 13 days without power, 16 days before I got phone back. It was a nightmare but I am still here. Still cleaning and waiting to have the damages fix, my house was badly damage but I'm staying strong and you stay strong also.

My prayers are sent to all of you, stay safe!

my mother is on the phone right now offering our relatives a place to stay. The storm isnt that close to here, but I know that any little unexpected jog to the west is possible and if that happens, we too, will hit the road.
