the movement is more west. Of course I thought that before the 1am advisory. Guess my eyes are going. What are your thoughts?

Ivan continues to weaken rapidly. Cat 3 now.

Terrible satellite signature-- dry air is doing real damage.

you need your eyes fixed.

there are deep reds starting to wrap around the west side of the eyewall. That didn't happen before.

It looks, to me, that it's trying to get its act back together and restrengthen...Ivan is starting to hit warmer waters.

Calidoug, log off and go to bed. You've completely discredited yourself with the crack you made on another strand about Alabama and doublewides.

rtd2 - Perhaps you are correct. Maybe between NW and NNW. But there definitely seems to be more of a westerly component than earlier. It is difficult to tell with the eclipse interruptoin.

"Terrible satellite signature-- dry air is doing real damage. "

Yes, the inner CDO is disrupted by dry ail, re-organization, I don't know.
But honestly..... that circular, perfect outflow is spectacular.

That, and he's holding his track strong

I'm at what soon will become "Lake Jefferson" (again)
Jefferson Ave. one block off Claiborne

I've seen the median (in NO: neutral-ground) in front of my house covered in water so many times, I know when to expect it.
Turn north Ivan!

Will be interesting to see what he looks like in the morning. But the ouflow is spectacular. Ivan would sure be a beauty on the visible right now...

I can't agree with you on a NW movement, his heading has held strong (yes, a bit of a more westward component than earlier this evening, but that is to be expected with a hurricane - shifts back and forth)
However, I don't see him abruptly changing this course to a due north course anytime soon. There is no slow bend to the north right now at all. Also, take into account his eye is pretty much due south of mobile bay at the moment.

I can't ignore how tightly the models are clustered, it makes me want to trust them completely. However, I also can't ignore his current (and established) heading over the last several hours.

Between NW and NNW a better description. Just not sure what the models are picking up on to turn IVAN north and then NE before landfall. I personally don't see it at this point but anything is possible. 4am fix will be enlightening (Perhaps)
