Yep another one. But we have a while to track this if it doesn't get picked up by the trough in the central atlantic. Luis get ready for flooding from Jeanne. She looks to be disrupted this morning. Maybe she is breaking up?? SHe should come under shear and land interaction in a day or two. Maybe we can eliminate her before she rides the ridge west :grr:

If it makes it to Trop Storm status, wasn't sure if that was Jeanne's system or the other one mentioned off the coast.

The Euro ECMWF model expects it's gona be a 'fish' one. Look at their prognoses:

http://www.ecmwf.int/products/forecasts/d/animate/catalog/products/forecasts/medium/deterministic/msl_uv850_z500!Wind%20850%20and%20mslp!72!Africa!pop!od!oper!public_plots!2004091500!!!step/

The AVN and UKMET also forecast this system to reapidly turn NW and N.

We can only hope that this wave (if it develops into Karl) is a fish.

Wouldn't that make it about right for this season??? The 1st is a minor storm, the second is generally a fish, the third is the major storm....? Alex, Bonnie (granted, not a fish), Charley(major), Danielle, Earl(fish), Frances (major), Gaston (minor), Hermine (fish), Ivan (major), Jeanne (minor), Karl (fish...????), ......????

I'm not sure if Hermine was a fish since even it was a depression it made landfall in Massachussetts.

Tropical Weather Outlook

Statement as of 11:30 am EDT on September 15, 2004

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico...
The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on extremely
dangerous Hurricane Ivan...located about 235 miles south of Mobile
Alabama...and on Tropical Storm Jeanne...located about 45 miles
south-southeast of San Juan Puerto Rico.
The tropical wave located about 300 miles south-southwest of the
Cape Verde Islands continues to show signs of organization.
Conditions appear favorable for this system to become a tropical
depression over the next day or so as it moves to the west or
west-northwest.
Elsewhere...tropical storm formation is not expected through
Thursday.
Forecaster Franklin
$$

AT 5 PM, the tropical wave in the far eastern Atlantic may become a tropical depression tonight or early tomorrow.
