Just heard from GulfBreezer...
She is still in Pensacola, but north of HWY 98 there (south of there was evac'd yesterday). She said they expect TS force wind there within the half hour. Already some rain making its way in...when I said she may be safer further north, she stated that that was still an option but soon the bridge out of there will shut and then there's only one way out. I'll attempt to update as I hear any news from there...

That conversation took place about half an hour ago, but if I hear from her before 3:00 I will do that...she said she'd spoken with you earlier too...I pray she stays safe and gets out of there if she has to...she just moved to the other side of US 98 but thats only about a mile or so...may not be safe enough there...

That will depend more than anything on the actual landfall point. The furyher East Ivan goes the more she needs to move. I know just about where she is-I used to live there-and surge wise she should be ok if it holds to progged path to landfall. Wind wise also if ditto. If it comes in further East not such a good place to be. The bridge closes at 50 mph and that is for both bridges Pensacola Bay bridge and the Garcon point Bridge(I think it has been built??)

Those winds are just off the coast per the bouys in that area of the GOM and the Weatherbug on P'cola beach which I am using at my comp. Already had 40 mph gusts with sustained around 27mph for quite a while.
I really wish she were in P'cola itself instead of GB!! Tell her I said to scat to P'cola!!!!

I'm only 80 miles SW of Atlanta here.
You should be fine. Some heavy rain, a chance of isolated tornadoes and gusty winds possibly up to 40-50 mph. A far cry from the coastline.
Good luck to GulfBreezer and everyone else down there.

What town/city near the AL/GA border do you live in, Brent?
