I've got a health question...

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Wed Sep 15, 2004 12:19 pm

I thought I'd run this by you guys just to see what you think..

There are times throughout the day I get hungry but obviously can't eat {class, no $ to get something whatever}

Anyway.. I also tend to get a headache when I'm hungry lots of times too..

Mom thinks that reaction comes from the shunt I have.. some of my teachers/professors think it could be because I'm hypoglycemic.. Mom thinks that's bull lol..

Anyway.. I haven't been able to see if I really do have any issues because I can afford the $ to go visit a doctor..

What do you guys think might {if anything} be up..?

The current headache I have I believe is actually from sitting in front of the comp lol.. not from not eating nothing..

I empathise with the headaches.
I've been a sufferer of migraines since childhood.
The main triggers for my migraines, in the best order I can come up with:
stress
sleep disruption,
dehydration,
diet- poor nutrition/timing
eyestrain
motion sickness

disclaimer- I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV....

Yes, it can be what and when you eat. Hypoglycemia is a valid concern for everyone. High carb/processed foods breakdown quicker and cause a peek/valley in blood sugar levels. Higher protein foods tend to have a much more gradual efect on blood sugar levels.

I get headaches every so often, but unfortunately, some are migraines. I really don't know how my migraines come on, but they happen and some are extremely horrible.

Does it go away if you do eat something? If that makes it go away, you may have blood sugar issues.

I don't know anything about shunts. Is that in your head?

Have you gone to your local health department? Every county in Central FL has one. They will see you for very cheaply, even free if need be. They have programs to fit everyone's budget (or lack thereof). Have you thought about packing a lunch to take to school? I do it everyday because I am waaaaaaaaaay to cheap to buy it everyday, lol. HTH.
