Nice Places To Enjoy Fall Foliage

#1 Postby azskyman » Wed Sep 15, 2004 7:43 am

Over the years, we remember certain places/views where fall foliage was vibrant and the day was perfect.

My top three have been North Conway, New Hampshire followed by Kremmling, Colorado, and that nice drive along Illinois Rt 2 toward the statue of Indian chief Blackhawk along the Rock River.

In the first two it was the maples and aspens that set the view on fire...and along the river, a combination of maples and birch.

Any special ones stick out in your mind?

The Smoky Mountains come to mind.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is another (haven't been to this area).

Personally, we prefer the Hocking Hills area in Ohio. 2.5 hour drive from Cincinnati.

Click on Photo Gallery for several Fall pictures.

Sometimes just taking a few hours out of your busy schedule on a Saturday or Sunday and hitting a local trail or park is all it takes!

Well....as you know Steve, I live in one of the most prestine areas in the West bar NONE! My favorite drive is State Rt. 473 to Hawley Lake and the rest of State Hwy. 260 heading east to the *higher* country, in FACT....about another 2 weeks and it'll be PEAK viewing!

Shannon - when I saw you were a recent poster on this topic, I suspected you'd mention Door County! We saw many Fall pictures on postcards and framed in galleries when we vacationed there in July, 2003. Can only imagine how beautiful it is in the Fall there. Winter would be next for me - I'd love to see it in all it's frozen glory too. I'm odd that way!
