Catastrophic Flooding now likely for NE GA, West Carolinas

Well now it looks like the "worst case scenario" is now coming to fruition. It likely pales in comparison to Mobile...but could be very bad.

Eastern KY and TN look just as bad...although perhaps it won't be quite as bad since these areas aren't as wet as the Carolinas.

I agree Hugo - my parents are in Winston-Salem and they say the ground is just saturated up in those parts and more rain will just be devastating - especially for the mountains....

Everyone here in NE Tenn. and Southwest Va. is holding their breath. I live on fairly high ground, but there's a lot of folks here who may be homeless at weeks end. :(

What about Greenville, SC? We have a flood watch going on here per TWC for Thursday night, I believe.

My parents are in Asheville NC. They just got out from under the flooding from Frances and are likely to get it again from Ivan. Dad said he drove through a low lying area today that was closed after the flooding and there was debris 25 feet up in trees and logs on top of barn roofs. Amazing. I hate to think what Ivan might do to them.
