Which Will Be More Destructive: Ivan vs. Charley

Ivan will be the champ. Hands down. It's much bigger than either charley or andrew, plus it will spread a swath of destruction from the gulf all the way up the appalacians. And if it stalls as predicted over the Tennessee valley area you are talking about a flood that could qualify as a thousand year flood. And I'm not considering foreign damage here. I believe just mainland U.S. damage alone will make it surpass Andrew. I believe that if you included damage in the Caribean the numbers would be just mind boggling. 100 billion or more?

Ivan will be more destructive then Charley.. He has weaker winds {now} but is a much stronger storm {in size} plus Charley booked it across the peninsula.. Ivan will probably not move across that area as fast..

If Ivan does stall like some say he could.. the biggest problem will be the potential flooding in the mountains..

I live where Charley hit - Charlotte County. I know the area very well as I have lived here for many years, also know the Gulf coast very well.

Ivan will definitely make a lot more damage then Charley did. We did get LOTS of damage but the population and infrastucture is small here compare to were Ivan is going.

I place my bet on Ivan also.

I grew up where Andrew hit, and my old neighborhood (and parents) were in the northern eye wall.

You couldn't possibly pick a more sparsely populated part of the Florida coast. The population density is WAY higher where Ivan is going.

Winds, schminds. There's just so much more here to flatten.

No doubt about it, Ivan due to all the damage from flooding in TN/GA/SC/NC from all of the rain Ivan will dump on them after he moves inland. And if he stalls, watch out!
