What is/was your favorite school subject..?

It was Science for a while.. but as I approached HS it quickly became history. I really became interested in history.. Plus all the historical events I've seen since i was alive helps..

Journalism was 1 of my favs in HS and now I have an AA degree in it.. but I may consider changing my major..
In my senior year of HS.. I suggested to the teacher to spice up our news.. we should use fancy graphics like the anchors have under there names.. or like when a local channel opens it's newscast.. BUT MY TEACHER NEVER LET THEM HAPPEN EVEN THOUGH SHE PROMISED!

History or English, it's a toss up. While in HS, I didn't really have a favorite class, b/c quite frankly I didn't know HOW to study effectively. Consequently my class ranking was very low and when no one (parents, teachers, counselors) suggested I go on to college, I actually was relieved. By my mid-20s I began to rethink that decision. At 30, I quit my full time job in a medical office and went to college full time. They offered me a study skills class b/c I had been out of school for so long but in hindsight, I could have used that class in HS! I made the Dean's list 3 out of 4 semesters in college and History was my favorite class. While some students thought the lectures boring, I found them interesting. Of course being 30-32 helped......he he.

I didn't develop my love of science until college. I am completely fascinated with Anatomy & Physiology. A close 2nd is psychology. If I wasn't pursuing nursing, I would definitely by a psych student. Who knows, maybe I'll end up with dual degrees. You never know what life is going to bring to you.

Jen - even before reading your response, I suspected your favorite subject would be science, since you're going into Nursing! They're always looking for HS Science teachers (math too) so if this Nursing thing doesn't pan out, you can always try that - you get that school schedule and summers home with Dustin! But then again teaching is exhausting, I thought at one time I could do it, now I know I'm not cut out for that - 12+ hours a day?

Wow, my story is quite similar yet quite the opposite. I rarely studied in HS and I had all honors classes. I graduated with a 3.8 GPA and my class rank was 35 out of 400 and something...scary to see what I could have done if I had applied myself! Then with 2 years of college under my belt at USF, I studied really hard and yet the lack of interest in the courses (except History) made it very hard to retain the information, so needless to say my college GPA is not very good, so I took a leave of absence for this semester and I am going to try for online courses in December. But History is probably my favorite because it is interesting and easier to remember.

rocky - I think that's great that you did so well in HS. You see I went to HS back in the dark ages...LOL I'm a 1974 grad.....I don't recall teachers suggesting we use flash cards (using plain index cards), or highlighting notes, or making study charts. What I remember is trying to study with the stereo on, no desk, parents that were pretty much univolved! I honestly don't recall one single HS teacher telling us HOW to study more effectively. Which is unfortunate, b/c I know I could have done so much better in HS!

Lit and Advance Mathmatics. Too bad I forgot most of the Adv Math though ...have to jump on the net to remind myself some stuff to help out the kiddo (and some of that stuff is fairly basics)! *bonks self on head*
You guys notice they are doing stuff in 7th and 8th grade we didn't do till 1st year of highschool. Like algebra and Pie and area of irregular shapes? My 11 yr DD doing 8th grade math (her school work is ahead of the normal school by 2 years) is giving me headaches and the fact that she is going to need a graphing calculator next year is making me queezy. Didn't use one of them till I was a Jr. and that was in an AP class! How the heck am I gonna help her with that stuff?!

My fave was English, with social studies a close second. I DESPISED math, which is the reason why I flunked statistics and didn't become a psychiatrist like I'd planned to out of HS.

I loved debate, French, English, and social studies. I despise math to this day!
