Does anyone had news from these territories,from cycloneye,and others friends on this board?Here in Guadeloupe,some towns suffered severe damages from the heavy rain of TD11,and some 200 families lost properties.No injuries.
Damages from IVAN,are not well known at this time,i supposed.Hope the number of fatalities should not increasein the south US.
Thinking at all of you currently in a bad situation..

Only 1 direct death that I know of. A lady was killed when the roof of here second floor home was blown off and she was lifted in the air with it (she was sleeping on a hammok which was tied to the roof) and she landed on the street, Her husband was in a hammok too and landed on the road too but he survived. Another person was killed before the storm arrive while covering his windows on the second floor of his home and feel off.
So far the worst thing is no power. I think about 95% of Puerto Rico is still without power including me. I still have a little bit of battery on my laptop
. Many, many trees are down, and took a lot of power lines with them. A lot of flooding, some rivers set alll time record high levels. But not much structural damage to homes. Only the very poorly built homes had damage. Agriculture did suffer massive losses. My daughter will resume school next monday, and so will the public school system.

There is flooding here on Culebra, we have power, thankfully, no water. Roads are blocked so we're sort of stuck on this end with no way to find out what, exactly, is happening. Phone service is on and off and most of us are just going to go to bed and hope it's better in the morning. At the moment we are in only the second few minutes of lull in the rain for the past two or three days (not sure now). It's amazing how quiet it sounds right now, I can hear neighbors talking, doors opening as people must be stepping outside to look around. The concrete power pole by my house is leaning dangerously more than usual (ground around it is totally soaked) and it's the one that has phone, electric etc on it for my whole neighborhood. Hoping they will work on it tomorrow before it falls (which would be a fall into the street, not a house, thankfully).
