weather channel

Can someone explain something to me? I have noticed that with the past two storms.....Ivan and Jeanne...the graphics for the 3-day forecast are different with the weather channel and the national hurricane center. I always thought that twc went by the nhc's 3-day cone. Why has this changed? I now understand why a lot of you don't like twc. I use to be a HUGE fan but am starting to divert my attention away from them. Curious as to your explanations of this..............Thanks! :P

The Weather Channel does use the The National Hurricane Center's official Projected Path for tropical cyclones. It runs down the middle of the yellow forecast cone.

TWC's yellow cone is based on the 3-Day Forecast, while the shaded area represents Day 4 and 5.

But they ARE somewhat different. S. FL is in NHC's cone, but not in TWC's....

TWC had Ivan going into Mexico while NHC had it correct AREA, the GOM.

Two days ago while the NHC had So. Fla in the cone. Dr Steve kept repeating that Jeanne would be an issue for Bermuda. I don't think he can concentrate well on more than one storm at a time (not that I could blame him while Ivan was headed for landfall!)

Lyons may have just been going by the GFS which at the time recurved it due to the phantom weakness in the super strong ridge.

People, there is so much info on various sites on the internet that I rarely tune into TWC anymore.

I find that their info is just not as good as what I can get other places.

Not bashing them. It's just that they could do so much better.

TWC USED to do so much better-that's the sad part of it.

Seems to me that TWC is more worried about TV ratings now. I remember when they hardly ever had national commercials. It always used to be local commercials....If you are from Eastern NC do you remember all them Big Blue ones hah.

Actually I do. One for some local feed store.
I also recall how they would mess up and still have their mic's keyed during the commericals and we could hear them talk silly stuff, not realizing anyone could hear them. Those were the days...
