The rain gauge is up to 3" and I got soaked in the 2 seconds it took me to check it. Winds still gusty but I think less so than before. I lost my DSL there for a while and went briefly mad without my weather resources.

11pm news was extremely uninformative. Local met seems to have given up expressing any opinions at all and is simply displaying his accuweather maps and pointing to them. The only info I got from him was that they do still expect this to last through Saturday at least, and that SW slopes are expected to pick up more than 11".

Thanks for the info! Still nothen in the Goldsboro area. Tennessee looks like it's getting a ton of rain right now.

I went to High School in Kinston. Played baseball for North Lenoir. Kinston is a depressed town.

The gauge is up to 4", and there's now an 8" deep pond that I used to call a front lawn.

Quieter now though.

What part of Asheville do you live in? Winds down here in Marion are the big story tonight, lots of downed trees and powerlines. Infact it sounds like tree damage is going to be the bigger story from Ivan, even though there will still be some significant flooding.

Good to see WLOS picking up the responsible duty of convering this storm all night long. Funny to see Darcel Grimes there on the 1 am cut in talking about the trees and lines down in the Southern Buncombe County area.

97 mph wind reported at flat top mountain. Also reports of mudslides.

The worst part is that you have to pay the hurricane deductible (2% of the value of your house) again each time you get hit. No matter how many hit you.

Rain gauge at 5.5" but no rain for now, nor wind either. Very quiet.
I'm on the NW side of Asheville, up Leicester Hwy a little bit. I hear rumors that there was a mudslide somewhere up here but news is hard to come by this late at night. Looks like the flooding will be far worse west of here, but I suspect we'll get more than we want.

Tornado Warnings are up for two counties southwest of Raleigh. Chatham and Moore.

Tornado just came through Guilford and another in Rockingham. Not sure if the warning for Rockingham has expired or not. The rains stopped here for a minute or two, now the tree tops are swirling again and black clouds moving back in.

The one for Guilford was spotted by LE and several citizens who called 911. It was up near NC68, 220 & 150 in Summerfield. Not sure about Rockingham.

Just thought that I would throw in that here in Phila, we're under a flood watch until tomorrow morning(not that it really matters, I feel so bad for the states south of here, especially for my firends in Ft Meyers and in NC). I work in NJ and it's been very humid and very cloudy-they are expecting heavy rains...I just hope we don't get a lot as we've had enough rain out here the past couple of weeks.

I'm in Knoxville, and just heard that I-40 is shut down near the NC/TN border "due to weather". Landslide, possibly?
