That first line of storms is now over my house just NE of Greensboro. 3 confirmed reports of tornados touching down, more tornado warnings for Rockingham county.
I've been sitting here watching the local news since 11:30 listening and watching the black clouds move in as 150 ft tree tops sway in the horse pasture behind me. Rain is coming down in sheets now and the driveway looks like a small flowing stream. I'll guess the creek below the house will flood before long and we wont be able to get out.
These must be fairly severe storms coming through because the lead mets are on and we normally only see them on the evening forcasts. Interesting watching the weather reports as they showed a wind radar? The radar showed bright reds and greens which she explained are rotating winds that had the potential to create tornados. Even better, they could give aprox times when the storm would pass over each small community.
They're watching a 2nd line of storms headed this way that are currently intensifying and should be here in an hour or less.
Crap, they just announced Buffalo creek as rapidly rising....thats the creek that runs below the house. Our farmhouse is further up the hill and water has never come up this high, but there's a first time for everything.
Should be an interesting afternoon. I hope everyone else throughout the state is ok.

Of course, this is a completely amateur observation!
yea it's still whipping good out there....
reminds of that 80's song "whip it good"

We have a great sunny day, hardly a cloud in the sky, with a tornado watch. The wind is very strong (don't know how stong, but just had a branch come out of a tree and almost hit my head). But the water in Bouge Sound (ICW) is very high with white caps (spashing over my sea wall into my yard). It is actually as high, or higher then it was when Charlie came through. I think my house floor is about 17 feet above sea level (so the water would probably flow over the outer banks before flooding the house), but it is still impressive to see it hitting the sea wall and splashing way up into the air.

I actually live in Mt. Pleasant as well, good to finally see someone that lives in my hometown. I use Charleston, SC as my location bc everyone knows basically where it is lol. But again, its been kinda breezy on and off, trees swaying a little.
