Weather Balloon Over Phoenix

#1 Postby azskyman » Fri Sep 17, 2004 9:49 am

Long known as a harbor for UFO's and alien visits, Phoenix residents who woke up before sunrise today were in awe of a weather balloon drifting some 20 miles above the city and lit dramatically by pre-dawn sunlight.

Quite a sight to see, of course, but I don't think there have been any local reports of citizens committing suicide as the end of the world nears or the aliens arrive.

News reports say it was a NASA balloon launched from New Mexico. It was large enough to hold a 747 INSIDE!

There will be/were plenty of people taking pictures including the media. Much more impressive in person that it will be via video or photo.

it could have been launched from NM (somewhere around WSMR?) but usually those big balloons are launched from near Palestine TX.

GREAT video of the UFO last night on the CBS affiliate! Showed the Laser telescope falling gently to the ground with a *chute* deployed! BTW.........Michelle told me late last night that she SAW the balloon over US around 1830 hrs. night BEFORE last, asked her WHY she didn't tell me, "Oh......I forgot!"
