Look at this and you will notice that if the new blob of convection continues as impressive as it's now, or improves, it has a good possibility.

The local mets said Karl would be a cat 3 hurricane.

Earlier today, visible satellite imagery shows a banding type eye briefly with hardly any CDO feature ... just a very elongated coiled snake-like pattern to the banding ... CDO becoming quite healthy now, and if not by 11 pm, then by 5 am in the morning ...

Noticed it as well. I think NHC will wait a bit longer, until eye starts to emerge. I would guess 5AM.

Karl's envelope of moist air is HUGE! Fortunately, it is already moving almost NW. I bet it will be the first fish cat4 of this season.
