And if you thought we would not reach the letter L...

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

And if you thought we would not reach the letter L...

#1 Postby PuertoRicoLibre » Fri Sep 17, 2004 8:10 pm

Look at what is cooking behind Karl, according to the 8 pm discussion. THIS IS INSANE!!!!!!! An L storm in the third week of September? The guy who does the statistics on these and posts them here is going to have a fieldday.

By the way, Jeanne was worse that we were expecting and did far more damage too. The crops are gone. More than a million still do not have power or water. We do not have water, power just came back a few minutes ago in my neighborhood in Old San Juan. I guess I am lucky to live close to the Governor's Palace.

This is the season from hell, surely at least three names will be retired and the way things are going those three may become four.

How far into the alphabet is the record?

#3 Postby TigerMo » Fri Sep 17, 2004 8:15 pm

I wonder what is the deepest into the alphabet we have gone in one season?

Sorry to hear about Jeanne. I was hoping after a month with my boat out of the water I might be able to put back in this weekend, but now not so sure.

Yeah, they need to retire this whole list of names. Last time it came around was 1998, before that was 1992. Enough said...

Lisa is next if I remember correctly. I know we went through "T"anya in 1995. Other than that, I don't know if we went further.

The mid atlantic wx hurricane center name list only goes to Walter. We may need to call up Xavier, Yanni, and Zorro......wow, that would suck

Read somewhere else that they then go to "Alpha Bravo Charlie.." , although they'd have to skip using 'Charlie' this year.

I doubt thats even possible. Theres about 10 weeks left of the season. There would have to be more than 1 TS being formed every week for that to happen. I don't see that happening, especially in November.

Lisa has to be a b!tch coming....... OH LORD......

If she's anything like my ex-girlfriend of the same name, she'll come to FL, mess up my house, max out my credit cards, then take off.

alex bonnie Charley
danielle earl Frances
gaston hermine Ivan
jeanne karl... Lisa.

It's the hurricane waltz. Just watch- Lisa's going to be a major at some point in her life- and will landfall in the states.

My mother in law was named Lisa- she died last summer. My other half and I have decided that if Lisa the hurricane develops and come to the Houston/Galveston area- we're going to take it as a hint and jsut leave her ashes on the doorstep when we flee.

She was a sassy bird. Destructive without meaning to be and seemed to create disaster all around her.

Oy. Not looking forward.
