What would happen if two strong hurricanes went on a collison course with each other? Has that ever happened in history?

Atmospherically, physically, and meteorologically impossible ... because of the Fujiwhara Effect, BOTH storm would begin a pinwheel effect at a focal point in between the two, and force the storms in different directions ... NOW, Iris did entrain a much weaker Tropical Storm Karen in 1995 into its circulation after thoroughly ripping that weaker TC apart ...

Not Necessarily
since even though one storm may absorb another the ultimate intensity of the final system is governed by other factors. In 1967, small 125kt Typhoon Nora was absorbed by a larger system that became Typhoon Marge, but Marge did not become and extreme typhoon.

Gosh-I was in St. Maarten then and didn't even know there was a dance going on nearby !!! I remember Iris because we flew in as she was approaching the island and then they closed down the island for a day or so until Iris passed but I sure did miss the waltz!!! DARN!!!
However, we did stay long enough to experience CAT 4 Luis as many of you already know. That was no dance, believe me.
