I am in such a mode of checking this site that even though we are not " under the gun" right this minute i am here wondering what is going on. This is sad. I did have a life before all this. Now this seems to be my life. Yes Hubby gets upset on occasion. My son reads all the posts and the girls are always asking, so whats new? whats happening?
So here I am not in the cone for a change and still on storm2k at midnight. Jeeze. :)

My power just came back on after being off all day. I'll still be posting this week, but not as much as I have been.

Very true. I feel like I've had my butt kicked Image the last few weeks. Was livid this morning at the horrendous flood bust forecast but knew we'd get some tornadoes thinking it would be a modestly busy day. Then the twisters came to VA and a bust day of chasing. While driving over hell's half-acre I thought this is a screwy way to live life

Saturday I'll do maps around the Advisories only and try to come back into the civilized world. Whew.

Scott, sorry you have had such a rough time of it lately-guess it's nothing new during this season but try to get some rest this weekend.

I can probably top the addiction chart. During Charlie I acessed the board via a laptop charged on an invertor in my car's cigarette lighter and a data modem cable attached to my cell phone. Worked great in the short term (3 days). For Ivan I was even more prepared-two laptops and two cell phones with data cables but fortunately it didn't come here. Also, I finally bought a generator after begging my hubby for over 20 years so recharging everything shouldn't be so much of a hassle next time-if there is a next time. Hopefully, that generator will sit in the garage taking up all that room I kept hearing about and gathering dust. I'm calling it my hurricane de-magnetizer. Wouldn't that be great if that's all it took to keep the monsters from knocking on your door.

Getting a little goofier than usual so it must be time for bed and sleeping in late for a change. Last night I never got up for the 2 and 5 updates and was quite pleased with myself. On the road to recovery???? Doubtful.

Yup, it's been a tough few weeks. With the folks living down near Tampa, I've been glued to the Internet and TWC every spare moment for what seems like eternity now. Early last week I even started getting ticked off at TWC for not paying enough attention to Ivan.

Then on Friday night of last week, my life changed forever. I discovered storm2k.org. Now it seems I am solely glued to this site, along with checking out every link posted here on the boards. S2K. A. --- not quite the same ring as AA, but close.

At work, they're calling me the 'Cane Guru' now. Of course I owe it all to you guys for educating me so much. 20+ years of living in Florida and I never learned this much about these storms.

Thanks again to all! And yes, I'm burned out, but here I am.

Even though I am fairly new to this board, I was here through Francis, watching closely, because we had our vacation time in Fl. at the beginning of Sept..
I don't know about ya'll, but I am exhausted, Emotionally, and physically. Between worrying about everyone in the paths of these hurricanes and the destruction they brought, and about family and friends, Worrying about what we would do about our vacation plans, and then a death in my family. That is why I haven't written on the boards. It has been a Heck of a Month so far. I will be glad when it is over. :(

Burnout

#48 Postby bjrashaw » Fri Sep 17, 2004 11:39 pm

I have had to really work hard on functioning where I am suppose to be and not in front of this pooter. The anxiety and excitement(although I hate to use that word in reference to hurricanes), is finally letting up some. I see myself almost normal by next week! I hope..

I think we've all suffered through our yearly quota of hurricanes by now. Frankly, I'm all hurricaned out. I can't take any more hurricanes this year.

Some one needs to inform Mother Nature that enough is enough!!!!!!!

No more hurricanes til 2005. Karl and Jeanne will be fish and are headed for the North Atlantic.

I think we're all done with 'canes for this year.

I really needed a break from all these weeks of hurricanes, and said I wasn't going to stop in here......I just couldn't help myself, it's gotten to be a way of life for me. My husband told me he was going to get 2 hurricane flags and wave them each time I come out of the computer room with another update.

It's bad when you're laying in bed with your girlfriend and as soon as she nods off, you meander around the room as if you were "looking for something" and "...aaahh.. look what I just noticed, the COMPUTER! wow, lets check the s2k boards!" after only been away from them for oh , say..less than an hour! it does get to a point where you feel like saying "I wish I could be free someday!"

BTW Gulfhills, sounds like your man has a definite sense of humor about it, just like my girl. LOL She'll call me Dr. Andrew Lyons (my real name is andrew) and say "lets go now to our hurricane expert in the studio,Dr. Andrew Lyons ..."

I took a little break from S2K last night, because my hubby insisted! But, first thing this morning, I was on here once again! I guess a support group is in the future...How to break your Storm2k addiction!
