Hey all---
Last time I was on this board I was giving info from my sister in Mobile as she was experiencing Ivan. We spent the hurricane in Auburn, about 200 miles from the coast. My house is fine. Just some tree limbs down. One of my sisters has a tree in her pool that took out a fence and a light, but no structural damage. Another sister, who lives on Fowl River, had some water come in under her doors and windows damaging the floors. Also, their screen porch was torn to shreds and their pier was damaged. We were so blessed! My heart and prayers go out for all those from Gulf Shores and points east. The reports out of there are not good and we still have been unable to reach friends in Fort Walton (land lines and cell phones are not working).
We spent a good part of yesterday morning in the safe room in the basement at the house in Auburn when the tornado sirens went off. We heard the roar of one, but apparently it didn't touch down. We just had a pile of rain and some wind. And we lost power for part of the day yesterday, but it was nothing compared to down here.
On a side note: I saw the Hurricane Track.com team heading up I-65 as we were heading back in to Mobile. They were towing the yellow truck. Isn't that the one with all the instruments that they parked in Gulf Shores? I can't believe it survived!
Glad to be home (and very grateful to have a home that is intact!) God bless and keep all who were not as fortunate!
