thoughts on Ivan if he re-emerges into the Atlantic

#1 Postby jpigott » Sat Sep 18, 2004 7:54 am

it looks as if Ivan (or what's left of his LLC) may soon emerge into the Atlantic. Didn't see anything on the 1st pg of the board regarding what may or may not happen once he comes off the coast. I know JB said he may drift SW along the US E coast slowly reorganizing. What's the new thinking??

Read the NHC 5AM discussion on Jeanne.

Some models call for a drift of part of the circulation to the SW out off the Carolinas and some call for a continued movement to the NE along the front. So some models are calling for the remains of Ivans ciriculation to be pulled apart and move both ways. (sigh - both of these systems are now history thankfully)

Really sounds silly, the 5AM discussion mentions the difficulty in making a forecast.

I don't understand how they mucked it up so bad, as for saying Ivan was to stall over the SE and cause incredible flooding. That didn't make any sense with the fairly strong cold front moving into the area where Ivan is. Ivan has never stalled, didn't think it would. I think Ivan will continue to move NE & disapate or as it is now just merge with the front, it has lost its ID already, & looks to be moving off into mid- Atlantic rapidly going NE.

Take Care,
Mike
